Post-graduation plans

Princeton NJ -- Each year, the Office of Career Services surveys seniors to gather information about their post-graduation plans. The most recent data available, collected from the Princeton class of 2002, reveal that:

• Undergraduates follow diverse paths upon graduation. Some 63 percent of last year's seniors were pursuing full-time employment, 27 percent were planning further education and the remaining 10 percent were engaged in other pursuits, such as travel, professional sports and the military.

• Among those employed as of May 2002, the largest numbers were in the financial services (38 percent) and consulting (15 percent) industries. Interest also was strong in the non-profit (11 percent) and manufacturing (11 percent) sectors.

• Of those planning to continue their education, 23.6 percent accepted admission into doctoral programs; 20.2 percent into master's programs; 20.5 percent into medical, dental and veterinary schools; and 16.8 percent into law schools.
