Name: Don Robasser. Position: University sanitarian. Overseeing sanitation, biological safety and environmental health in the University's labs, dining areas and other campus facilities. Ensuring the University's eating facilities are in compliance with the New Jersey Sanitary Code for Food Establishments. Quote: "I have my undergraduate degree in biology, but my minor was in English. That's provided me with some good background in com-munications and writing. In my 23 years with the University, I've enjoyed getting out to the various areas that I have responsibility for and working with all varieties of people." BriefsWilliam Barron Jr., the Frederick Schultz Class of 1951 Professor of International Economic Policy in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, will be awarded the Presidential Rank Award for his exceptional leadership and long-term accomplishments as a senior employee of federal public agencies. Before coming to Princeton this year, Barron was acting director of the U.S. Census Bureau from January 2001 to March 2002. He also was deputy director and chief operating officer of the Census Bureau, a position he had held since April 1999. In addition, he served in top management posts with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and with the Commerce Department for more than 30 years. Each year, the president of the United States recognizes and celebrates a small group of career senior executives in the public sector with the Presidential Rank Award. Winners of this prestigious award are strong leaders, professionals and scientists who achieve results and consistently demonstrate strength, integrity, industry and a relentless commitment to excellence in public service. An official White House ceremony honoring all recipients is scheduled for January 2003. |
