United Way campaignPrinceton NJ -- United Way officials and University volunteers gathered in the Frist Campus Center March 21 to celebrate the $182,332 raised for the United Way in this year's campus drive. Campaign chair Dan Scheiner, director of benefits, compensation and information systems in the Department of Human Resources, praised the volunteers for their efforts. "This was a tremendous year of giving for the entire Princeton University community," he said. "Our volunteers put forth an extraordinary effort during a very difficult economic period."The campaign raised $160,385 in contributions from faculty, staff and retirees -- $123,435 from the main campus, $28,326 from the Plasma Physics Laboratory and $8,624 from retirees. The University matched gifts with 15 cents on the dollar for every payroll deduction contribution and 10 cents on the dollar for all other gifts, for a total University contribution of $21,947. Donations will be distributed among the funded programs of the Greater Mercer County United Way and other health and human services agencies that were designated by individual employees.
