Lieutenant Colonel Peter G. Knight, PhD
Lieutenant Colonel Peter Knight graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1994 and commissioned into the Military Intelligence branch of the U.S. Army. He served his lieutenant years at Fort Lewis Washington as a Battalion S-2, Assistant Battalion S-3, Corps Intelligence Analysis Team Chief, and Support Platoon Leader.
As a captain, he commanded Charlie Company, 102 Military Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, in the Republic of Korea. Later he served as the S-3 Plans and Training Officer at the 742nd Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Meade, Maryland, supporting the National Security Agency mission. While assigned there he deployed in support of Operation Joint Forge in Bosnia-Herzegovina in early 2001. He was later selected to serve as a briefing officer to the Secretary of the Army and Chief of Staff of the Army on the DA G-2, Foreign Intelligence Watch at the Pentagon.
Upon leaving the Pentagon, he attended graduate school at The Ohio State University and taught and directed military history courses in both conventional and unconventional warfare for 3 years as an instructor and Assistant Professor of History at the United States Military Academy.
In 2006, he earned his PhD in History from The Ohio State University. As a major he deployed to Mosul, Iraq in 2008 as the G-2 Intelligence Advisor to the 2nd Iraqi Army Division as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then served at the 709th Military Intelligence Battalion in the United Kingdom as Battalion Executive Officer and then as Chief of Support to Military Operations for Menwith Hill Station providing strategic communications research and relay support to deployed forces worldwide. His hobbies include world travel, basketball, and visiting national parks and historic sites.
LTC Knight is married to the former Christine Johnson from Wareham, Massachusetts. Christine is a former Department of the Navy and Department of the Army Civilian with over 10 years in the government service. They have two daughters, Katarina, who is 6 years old and Alexandra, who is 1 year old.
