Eligibility Requirements for the Program

Participation

Participation in the Princeton University Army ROTC program is open to all students attending Princeton University, The College of New Jersey, or other specifically approved Cross-Enrolled schools. 

Enrollment in the Basic Course (Freshman and Sophomore Years)

Students must meet the general eligibility criteria listed below to enroll in the Army ROTC program Basic Course. Detailed criteria are prescribed in a number of Army publications. These criteria are subject to periodic change. Inquiries into eligibility based on individual circumstances may be submitted to the Princeton University Army ROTC Battalion Scholarship and Enrollment Officer. Applicants must: 

  1. Be a citizen of the United States. 
  2. Be medically qualified. 
  3. Satisfactorily explain any record of arrest and/or civil conviction (no felony convictions). 
  4. Be enrolled in and attending a full-time course of instruction toward a baccalaureate or advanced degree in a recognized academic field of study. 
  5. Be under 30 years of age at the time of commissioning

Enrollment in the Advanced Course (Junior and Senior Years)

Students must meet the general eligibility criteria listed below to contract in the Army ROTC program Advanced Course. Detailed criteria are prescribed in a number of Army publications. These criteria are subject to periodic change. Inquiries into eligibility based on individual circumstances may be submitted to the Princeton University Army ROTC Battalion Scholarship & Enrollment Officer. 

  1. Meet all of the eligibility criteria required for Basic Course enrollment. 
  2. Satisfy the requirements of the Basic Course (Complete the ROTC Basic Course, attend Leadership Training Course (LTC), or receive placement credit based on JROTC or prior military training or service). 
  3. Possess at least a 2.0 GPA. 
  4. Satisfactorily complete a Modified Army Physical Fitness Test. 
  5. Satisfactorily complete the English Comprehension Level Test (Applicable only to students who have English as a second language). 
  6. Be of good moral character. 
  7. Possess the potential to become an effective Army leader. 
  8. Agree to accept a commission as an officer in the Regular Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve.
