Woodcutters Weekend
Celebrating 31 Years of Stewardship - 1981-2012
Join us November 16th-18th with your family and friends at Princeton-Blairstown Center. Embrace our shared mission of stewardship for the land and enjoy a sense of timelessness this 31st Woodcutters invokes. It's a great time to enjoy the outdoors, catch up with old friends and make new ones!
Please make your reservation to secure cabin space or a seat on the bus from Princeton. E-mail Pat Karl at pk@princeton.edu with your RSVP or call her at 908-362-6765 with the number of people in your party and days attending, or for more information. You can indicate which volunteer jobs you prefer for you and your party at this time, or decide when you arrive.
Children under 18 are welcome to attend Woodcutters but must be accompanied and supervised at all times by a parent or guardian (who must also sign a waiver on the minor's behalf). This is especially true if anyone under 18 is arriving or departing on the bus.
Come for a day or the weekend. Lodging and food will be provided for all volunteers. A light snack will be provided Friday evening, with a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner provided on Saturday. Breakfast will be available on Sunday for anyone staying over. If you have saws, axes, and safety glasses, please bring them. Tools will be limited to use by owner. Dress in layers, and don't forget your work boots and gloves.
Some of the jobs available are:
Split & stack wood
Tend to the vegetable garden
Plant spring bulbs in the Stamp Garden
Clean windows and screens in cabins and Egner Lodge
Restore kitchen
Bridge repair
Paint recycling bins
Assist in office
Repair benches
Powered by Vocaroo Voice Recorder
Here are recordings from other people who have shared their feelings about what woodcutters means to them.
Whether you are coming to woodcutters weekend or cannot make it this year, please send your memories and reminiscences of past woodcutters to pbc@princeton.edu, and they will be shared at the celebration.
