Michael Huerta (MPA '80)

Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Transportation Systems and Services, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc.

Michael has more than 20 years experience at senior executive levels in the transportation industry. He oversaw transportation issues related to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City after two years as chief of staff for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), where he was chief strategist and policy advisor to the secretary. Michael also directed DOT's Office of Intermodalism, where his accomplishments included securing funding for several high-profile projects, such as the Alameda Corridor port access in Southern California and a mass transit link to the San Francisco International Airport. Previously, as executive director of the Port of San Francisco, Michael completed a strategic plan that led to substantial increases in container shipping volumes and oversaw completion of an award-winning public access pier to downtown San Francisco. He also served three years as commissioner of the New York City Department of Ports, International Trade and Commerce.

At ACS, Michael couples that experience with our proven technology and Web-based applications to customize solutions that can move people, vehicles and cargo more safely and efficiently. In fact, the business Michael leads has become the nation's leader in issuing the transponders that keep traffic moving through toll plazas via E-ZPass and other electronic toll collection systems. Michael also led the team responsible for developing PrePass®, the first and largest commercial vehicle weigh station bypass system in the country.
