
Douglas S. Massey
Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs

Douglas S. Massey received his PhD in 1978 from Princeton University and has served on the faculties of the University of Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on international migration, race and housing, discrimination, education, urban poverty, and Latin America, especially Mexico. He is the author, most recently, of Beyond Smoke and Mirrors: Mexican Immigration in an Age of Economic Integration, and Source of the River: The Social Origins of Freshmen at America’s Selective Colleges and Universities. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Past-President of the American Sociological Association and the Population Association of America.
