QES Seminar, May 10, 2010: Comprehensive Control of Atomic Motion(More about event)
Mark G. Raizen Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Department of Physics, The University of Texas at Austin ABSTRACT: I will describe in this talk new approaches to controlling the motion of atoms in gas phase that can be applied to almost any element in the periodic table. The main focus of the talk will be on the application of such methods towards controlled deposition of atoms back to solid phase. Applications include efficient isotope separation, and the controlled deposition of quantum dots and wires.
