Senior Research Specialist I/II

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for up to three microfabrication and/or nanofabrication process engineering specialist positions in the Princeton University Institute for the Science and Technology (PRISM) Micro and Nanofabrication laboratory (MNFL). The MNFL is Princeton's central, shared use clean room facility and houses a large complement of tools dedicated to materials fabrication, packaging and processing across all length scales. Successful candidates will participate in a multidisciplinary research and education environment utilizing a wide range of instrumentation available in the MNFL. The specialists will fill various roles on the team and provide key support, maintenance, and guidance to researchers in the fabrication, packaging, deposition, patterning, etching, metrology, and processing of complex materials. Other responsibilities include mentoring and training students/researchers, facilitating research projects by suggesting process improvements, troubleshooting tool problems, communicating with vendors, writing internal documentation for tools and processes, and establishing and maintaining baseline facility processes.

Successful candidates are expected to have experience in one or more of our technical areas including, photolithography, nanolithography, metrology, physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, pattern transfer, microfluidics and others. In addition, familiarity with lab management software or tool login control is a plus. Specialists will support the MNFL daily operation, and would be responsible for maintenance of equipment in addition to their interactions with users.

The position level will be determined based on experience and education.

Senior Research Specialist I/II

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for two research/technical specialist I/II positions in the PRISM Imaging and Analysis Center (IAC) at Princeton University. The level will be determined based on the experience and educational level.

These two Imaging and Analysis Specialists will participate in a multidisciplinary research and education program utilizing a wide range of instrumentation available in the IAC. The specialists will fill various roles on the team and provide key support, maintenance, and guidance to researchers in the characterization of complex materials. Staff members will also participate in training and helping users to operate the equipment.

Successful candidates are expected to have experience in one or more of our analysis and characterization techniques including, electron beam, X-ray, optical, thermal, scanning probe, and others. Specialists will support the center's daily operation, and would be responsible for maintenance of microscopes, spectrometers, thermal analysis tools, electronics, vacuum systems, and sample preparation equipment, in addition to their interactions with users.

Lecturer

The Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) seeks to appoint a full time Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core courses at both undergraduate and graduate level, to assist with elective/laboratory courses, and to develop new courses or course components related to Material Science and Engineering. In addition, the Lecturer will be expected to participate in the management of the undergraduate and graduate programs within the institute, including development/ management of PRISM teaching laboratories, course advising, mentoring, and other educational outreach activities.

We are looking for an experienced Lecturer who has demonstrated excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate will be expected to create a climate that embraces inclusivity and diversity, with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring; one that incorporates creative approaches to teaching that enhance the student's learning experience. Although not required, a track record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of Materials Science and Engineering is considered a plus.

Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) Imaging and Analysis Center (IAC) at Princeton University has an immediate opening for a full-time postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in physical science related disciplines and have extensive experience and proven record in studies of the structure-composition-processing-property relationships in complex materials. Responsibilities will involve supporting research and education activities for both hard and soft materials, utilizing advanced instrumentation such as Cs-corrected TEM/STEM, in-situ TEM, FIB, AFM, SEM, XRD, EDS/WDS, Raman, XPS, sample preparation, etc.

Appointment is for one year with possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and funding availability. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.
