How to Access the Lab
All users must attend the Princeton EH&S safety seminar and pass the MNFL safety quiz. Students must also attend a fabrication course. Please select the appropriate user category on the left for more information.
New users must schedule an appointment with Joe Palmer to arrange for a tour and for badging.
Equipment training, with a few exceptions, is accomplished by learning from experienced users. A new user, after reading through the appropriate online documentation, contacts other authorized users and observes the tool of interest in operation twice. A new user may find when others are operating that tool through the MNFL online equipment reservation system. Then the user schedules time with a "super-user", a more experienced lab member. The super-user describes the operation of the equipment in more detail, and the user must then show proficiency in operating the tool. Finally, with super-user approval, the user must demonstrate competent tool operation to a staff member.
New users are required to supply their own substrates, tweezers and containers/glassware for processing. A variety of resists, solvents, acids, and other chemicals are available in the laboratory.
