Equipment Training
Due to the variety of equipment in the MNFL, the training requirements are not identical for all machines. Please make sure that you refer to the Equipment list page to see what that machine’s training requirements are. For example, for training on the Raithe E-Line Tool, contact Yong Sun.
Equipment Training Checklists are provided on cleanroom paper and are available in the gowning room.
Only rarely is training done in groups, as most equipment requires a level of expertise that cannot be reached in short group training sessions.
You are expected to read the online equipment instructions and familiarize yourself with the manuals. The instructions should be printed out for reference when you observe two or three different qualified users operating the tool.
It is during this time that you have the opportunity to determine relevant recipes or process parameters from the observed users. Most of the tools have a great deal of flexibility in what can be accomplished. Talking and interacting with experienced users allows for a minimization of time wasted on exploring the capabilities of the machine.
You sould then contact one of the super-users of the tool of interest. Arrange a mutually acceptable time when the tool is free for you to operate under close supervision at least once. The super-users are listed for each piece of equipment on the page for that tool under the Equipment List.
Finally, you should contact PRISM Lab Staff for final authorization. Bring the checklist along, showing that the above steps were completed. Remember that the final authorization is not a training session. It is expected that you have mastered the basic operation of the equipment.
