Prof. Nan Yao, of the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, has won an Engineering Council Teaching Award for MSE 505. Yao was nominated by students for the award. The award is given to professors who show an impressive dedication to teaching both in and out of class.
The Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) and the Princeton Environmental Institute are pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Global Photonic Energy Corporation Edith and Martin B. Stein Solar Energy Innovation Awards. There was one undergraduate award winner and two graduate co-winners this year. 
The Certificate Program for Materials Science & Engineering graduated 24 students on Monday, June 2, 2008. The 2008 class had students from Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Molecular Biology, and Civil & Environmental Engineering Departments. The future plans of the students range from graduate work in bioengineering to teaching English in Guatemala. Two students were awarded the "Outstanding Materials Student" Award- Brett Nitchke and
PRISM announces the 2008 Undergraduate and Graduate 2008 Newport Awards for Photonics. The awards will be given to Thomas Lipp ’08, a senior in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Anthony Hoffman, a graduate student in Electrical Engineering.
