Salvatore Torquato, Professor of Chemistry and the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials, has been named the 2009 recepient of the prestigious David Adler Lectureship Award in the Field of Material Physics by the American Physical Society. The Award recognizes an outstanding contributor to the field of materials physics, who is noted for the quality of his/her research, review articles and lecturing.

The Materials Science and Engineering Fall Open House was on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM in the Bowen Hall Atrium. Students had the opportunity to attend a poster session presented by graduate students, talk with current MSE students and PRISM faculty, go on lab tours of the IAC, and try liquid nitrogen ice cream. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Grand Challenges in Global Health has awarded Prof. Ron Weiss research on "Programmed Pathogen Sense and Destroy".
PRISM is pleased to announce that Dr. Anthony Novembre has joined PRISM as its first Associate Director. Working with the Director of PRISM, his role will encompass leading all aspects of the Institute, including the development of new research initiatives, interaction with industry and government, research facility and program management, and other Institute activities. He will work closely with both the faculty and staff of the Institute.
