Prof. Torquato conducts theoretical and computational research in the fields of statistical mechanics and materials science. Areas of interest include:

(i) heterogeneous and biological materials
(ii) materials optimization
(iii) liquids, glasses and crystals
(iv) colloids
(v) particle packing problems
(vi) self-assembly theory

He is also interested in tumor growth modeling and other problems in biophysics.
