BY TRAIN:
The University is easily accessible by train, which runs along the Northeast Corridor line and also stops at the Newark airport. Both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains stop at Princeton Junction, and the south end of campus is a five-minute connecting train ride away using the “Dinky” - the train that connects Princeton Junction with Princeton Station.
BY CAR:
From the NORTH/NEW YORK CITY
Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). After the toll booths, take the first right turn onto the ramp for Route 18 north. Soon after you enter Route 18, take the left side of a fork in the road, staying in the right lane. Immediately bear right for an exit to U.S. Route 1 south/Trenton. Drive south on Route 1 for about 18 miles to the Washington Road exit. Take the first right onto Rt. 571 toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead.
From the WEST
Drive east on Interstate 78 into New Jersey. Exit onto southbound Interstate 287 (toward Somerville). Follow signs for Routes 202/206 south. Drive south on 202 for a short distance and then follow signs to 206 south, which will take you around a traffic circle. Go south on 206 for about 18 miles to Nassau Street (Route 27) in the center of Princeton. Turn left onto Nassau Street, and follow it to the third traffic light. Turn right onto Washington Road. Turn right onto Faculty Road and proceed around the first round about and take the first exit. At the second round about, take the third exit. Turn left at the stop sign. The entrance to Lot 23 is on the left.
From the SOUTH
If you are coming from southern New Jersey, we recommend that you take Interstate 295 north (instead of the New Jersey Turnpike). Take Exit 67 to Route 1 north. Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit. Go three quarters of the way around and bear right onto Rt. 571 toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead. Follow directions below.
From the EAST
Take Interstate 195 west (toward Trenton) to the exit for Interstate 295 north. Drive seven miles to the exit for Route 1 north (exit 67 Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit. Go three quarters of the way around and bear right onto Rt. 571 toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead. Follow directions below.
From the PHILADELPHIA AREA
Take Interstate 95 north into New Jersey and exit at Route 1 north (exit 67). Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit. Go three quarters of the way around and bear right onto Rt. 571 toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead. Follow directions below.
Parking Information for Prospect House
Parking at Princeton University is restricted due to the limited number of spaces available. Parking is available in Lot 23 during the hours of 8:00 – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. To reach Lot 23 from Rt. 571 (Washington Road), make a left turn at Faculty Road. Proceed around the first round about and take the first exit. At the second round about, take the third exit. Turn left at the stop sign. The entrance to Lot 23 is on the left.
Lots 10 and 13 (off of William Street) are available after 5:00 pm weekdays and on weekends. It is approximately a 3-minute walk from the House.
All bridal parties are allowed three (3) parking spaces on the Prospect Circle for the duration of your reception. Arrangements for these spaces will be made directly through your Prospect House representative.
There are a limited number of metered spaces along Nassau Street and Prospect Avenue which can be used for shorter periods of time.
It is sometimes possible to arrange special parking for large groups, and is handled on a space-available basis through the Office of Transportation and Parking Services.

Policy For Use of Prospect Gardens
The beautiful Gardens of Prospect House are a delight for all who visit the campus. Our primary responsibility is to provide a garden floral display that can be enjoyed by the University community and visitors to the campus. In order to maintain the exquisite appearance of the Gardens, please adhere to the following restrictions:
- The lower gardens may not be used for ceremonies of any kind.
- The lower gardens may be used for picture taking purposes only.
- Ceremonies may be performed in the Rose Garden only.
- The use of rice, bird seed or rose petals on Princeton University property is strictly prohibited
The use of platforms and tents is strictly prohibited. Use of canopies is allowed. The Gardens are reserved for wedding parties having their reception at the Prospect House.
If you are not having your reception at the Prospect House, you may still be able to reserve the use of the Gardens for pictures by calling the Prospect House Catering Office at 609.258.3323. Permission will be granted only if there is not a wedding at Prospect House that day. If a wedding is scheduled at Prospect House the day you would like to use the Gardens, the wedding takes precedence and you will no longer be able to use the Gardens.
