Planning Your Wedding at Prospect House

Thank you for contacting us regarding your wedding.

Prospect House, the faculty and staff club at Princeton University, is available throughout the year for your special event. Prospect is open to members and their guests Monday through Sunday by special arrangement. To determine your membership status or eligibility to hold your event at Prospect House, you may be required to contact Conference and Event Services at 609.258.6116. Once eligibility has been confirmed, contact our catering department by calling 609.258.3455 or via e-mail at



When you are ready to book your event at Prospect House, you will need the following information: event date, back-up date, time of event, tentative guest count, phone number, fax number , Credit Card, number which is required to confirm the event. A Prospect House representative will be happy to meet with you, by appointment only, to plan your special day.

Special Arrangements

To make your event special, Prospect House will coordinate all special requests including rentals, linen, flowers or props. The event sponsor is responsible for all costs associated with these items. Arrangements may be made to hold the ceremony on site. There is a ceremony fee of $400, plus any necessary rentals.

Please note: Prospect House is handicapped accessible. If wheelchair accessibility is required, please let a catering representative know.

Custom Menus

Prospect House will happily accommodate special menu requests due to preference or dietary restrictions. Please ask your catering representative for suggestions to customize your menu. Customized menus may result in additional charges.

Choice of entree selections are available for an additional $5 per guest for two, and $7 per guest for three or more.

Prospect House Wedding Plan

Weddings are planned directly with a catering representative with choices made from a specially-designed package plan. The Wedding plan includes:

  • Use of Prospect House for a 4-hour time slot
  • A one-hour cocktail reception with six passed hors d’oeuvre
  • Members: 4-hour open bar with premium liquor, beer and wine.
  • Non-members: The Prospect House liquor license does not permit the sale of alcoholic beverages to non-members. Therefore, non-members are required to purchase liquor from an outside source. A Prospect House representative will be happy to help with arrangements.
  • Members receive a champagne toast.
  • Dinner Service: Choice of a 4-course Plated Dinner or Buffet Dinner
  • Traditional Wedding Cake.  (Custom Wedding Cakes Available)
  • Custom fitted linen
  • Complimentary private rooms for the Bride and Groom.  Champagne and soft drinks included  (Available two hours prior to the start time of your event.)
  • We would be happy to provide a recommendation list of florists, bands and photographers who have provided superior service at Prospect House
  • Coordination of rentals and equipment such as dance floors, furniture and custom linen.
  • Customized floor plans and on-site wedding coordination for your event

Billing, Methods of Payment

Following is the payment schedule for weddings:

$500 upon booking (securing date with catering representative)

$1,000 upon confirmation (approval of proposal)

Estimated grand total due 5 business days prior to event along with guaranteed guest count

Balance settled day before event

Events may be charged directly to your Visa, Master Card, American Express or by personal check.

Guarantees and Minimums

We require a guaranteed number of guests five (5) business days prior to your event. Billing is based on this guarantee or actual number of guests, whichever is greater. A minimum of $5,000 is required to reserve sole use of the house for the duration of your event.

Labor and Service Fees

Arrangements for time above the 4-hour package may be made at the overtime rate of $400 per hour when booked in advance; $600 the day of the event. All events at Prospect House are subject to a service fee of 10%. Additional service fees may apply. Labor fees at Prospect House are as follows: Bartender: $50 per hour, Butler: $22 per hour, Exhibition Chef or Station Attendant: $50 per hour. Self-service bars are subject to a $50 set up fee.

Dangers and Liability

Due to the historic significance of Prospect House, its furnishings and grounds, great efforts are taken to preserve the house and its surroundings. Event sponsors will be responsible for any damages that are the result of willful and negligent behavior on the part of their guests. Event sponsors are responsible to collect all belongings at the end of their affair. Prospect House is not responsible for lost, stolen or items left behind.

Due to local health code restrictions, under no circumstances are clients allowed to bring food in or take remaining food to go. Prospect House is a smoke-free facility.


Alcoholic Beverage Service

Prospect House will supply all mixers, bar fruit, sodas, glasses at 3.95 per guest.      

Open bars exceeding the 4-hour time limit will be charged based on consumption.

Prospect House reserves the right to refuse serving alcoholic beverages to any guest.
