Apartment Housing

The University offers housing for eligible graduate students and their dependents in a variety of University apartments. All apartments are unfurnished. Please note that studio and one-bedroom units are especially attractive and are usually chosen by returning students, which makes them rarely available to incoming students. The following links can help you understand the proximity of the locations to campus and access via the campus shuttle:

Personal Property Protection & Pet Insurance

The contract holder is required to carry and maintain personal property protection (“renter’s”) insurance while living in University housing. Those with pets must also carry personal liability coverage. The contract holder must provide proof of coverage upon request by the University. The minimum acceptable levels of coverage for 2012-2013 are $4,000 in personal property protection for all contract holders and $100,000 in personal liability coverage for those with pets. Students may keep pets only after registering them with the Housing Department by filing a Resident Information Sheet and proof of required levels of personal property protection and liability insurance. The University provides information on carriers for such coverage (www.haylor.com/student), but does not require the contract holder to procure coverage from any specific vendor. The contract holder must provide proof of coverage upon request by the University.

Furniture

In addition to regular monthly expenses, you should expect to spend at least $1,500 to furnish an apartment since all graduate apartments are unfurnished. Secondhand furniture is available; newspapers and notice boards may be consulted for offers. Students are required to insure their possessions; the University does not cover the cost of theft, loss or damage.
