CEG member Ruoming Peng from the Department of Electrical Engineering led a discussion on the data and situation of China solar energy.

The discussion covered a wide range of topics related to the theory and application of photovoltaic (PV) technology. The discussion was arranged in two levels: technology and policy. In the technology level, CEG members majorly presented their opinions on solar cell efficiency, material and payback period; in the policy level, CEG members with policy background introduced the challenges of incorporating solar electricity to the grid, and discussed how the subsidization from government affects PV development.

The efficiency of PV electricity generation is a key issue in this disuccion (see figure below), involving intense interests for state-of-the-art researches.
