Directions

This listing is based on information from the Center for Visitor and Conference Services.

Princeton University is located in central New Jersey approximately 50 miles southwest of New York City and 45 miles northeast of Philadelphia. To reach Princeton, we recommend one of the following routes:

By Plane:

· From Newark Airport

The Princeton Airporter shuttle bus has an information counter at the baggage claim area in each terminal at Newark Airport. Reservations can be made at the desk when you arrive at the airport for your trip to Princeton. However, reservations must be made in advance for your return trip to the airport. The one-way cost is $23 per person. The trip takes approximately 90 minutes. The shuttle service runs every hour, at fifteen minutes past the hour, from 4:15 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. Sunday - Friday. A reduced schedule is in effect on Saturday. One should contact the Princeton Airporter for specifics and reservations at 1-800-385-4000.

· From Philadelphia Airport

Take the SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) airport shuttle train to 30TH STREET STATION. The shuttle stops on the lower level of every terminal and costs $5 one way per person. See instructions for train travel below for further directions.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend flying into JFK or LaGuardia airports in New York. It is expensive and time consuming to travel through Manhattan to the train or bus station where transportation to Princeton is available.

By Train:

· From New York, Penn Station, West 33rd Street

Take any New Jersey Transit or Amtrak train going to PRINCETON JUNCTION. (Many Amtrak trains do not stop at Princeton Junction; please read the schedule carefully.) From Princeton Junction you can ride to Princeton University (3 miles) on the Dinky (Princeton to Junction or Junction to Princeton), a shuttle train that arrives at the University Place and Alexander Street Station, located on the edge of the University campus. PLEASE NOTE: The Dinky does not run as frequently on weekends, so check a train schedule to make sure that there is a connection when you arrive at Princeton Junction. Taxis meet most rush hour trains but cannot be depended upon to meet off-peak and weekend trains.

· From Philadelphia, 30th Street Station

Via SEPTA:

Take a SEPTA train to TRENTON, SEPTA's first and only New Jersey stop. Change to a New Jersey Transit train to PRINCETON JUNCTION. From Princeton Junction you can ride to Princeton University (3 miles) on the Dinky, a shuttle train that arrives at the University Place and Alexander Street Station, located on the edge of the University campus.

The ticket agent can tell you which gate to use. Buses leave every half hour and take approximately 90 minutes to reach Princeton. Get off the bus at PALMER SQUARE; the campus is directly across the street.
