Caleb J. D. Maskell entered the program in 2007. His interests include prophecy, orthodoxy, dissent and creativity in and around American Christianity. He has worked at length on Jonathan Edwards, Walter Rauschenbusch, and James Baldwin, but Herman Melville, William Stringfellow, Fyodor Dostoevsky and Jacques Ellul wrote the books he would save first in a fire. His intended research is on the social, political, and theological story of the idea of the Kingdom of God in America. He earned an A.B. from the University of Chicago and an M.Div. from Yale University. Before coming to Princeton, he was the Associate Director of the Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University. He is married to Kathy; they are expecting their first child in Fall 2009.
