returned to Princeton in 2002 as Class of 1943 University Professor of Religion. His teaching and research interests include philosophy of religion and cultural criticism, and his current research focuses on the tragic, the comic, and the political. He is the author of numerous articles and books including The American Evasion of Philosophy: A Genealogy of Pragmatism, The Cornel West Reader, Race Matters, and Democracy Matters.
