Officiant
Couples may choose a clergyperson or public official to conduct the service.
We ask that your officiant contact Dean Deborah Blanks (609-258-3621) as soon as possible by phone, so that we can answer any questions he or she may have, and convey basic information about the chapel policies and procedures. We need you to pass this request on to your officiant, and thank you in advance for doing so as soon as possible.
The Dean and Associate Deans of the Chapel are available to officiate at weddings, as their schedules permit. In order to arrange for this, the couple must contact Liz Powers 609-258-3048 at least seven months in advance of the wedding date (or immediately, if the date is less than seven months from the time of scheduling). Ms. Powers will direct the couple to one of the Deans. It is the responsibility of the couple to apply to the Dean by letter no less than six months before the scheduled date of the wedding. (This letter should state the reason for the request, and should include contact information, including telephone numbers and e-mail addresses.)
ROMAN CATHOLICS must submit a written request to Father David Swantek at the Aquinas Institute at least six months prior to the marriage for further instructions. The Aquinas Institute is located at 65 Stockton St., Princeton, NJ 08540. Since diocesan guidelines regarding the location of wedding ceremonies apply, Roman Catholic couples should not assume that permission to be married in the Chapel will be granted.
EPISCOPALIANS who wish to use aminister from outside the campus must inform the Chaplain of the Episcopal Church at Princeton, The Rev. Peter A. French, at least six months prior to the marriage. The Episcopal Church at Princeton University, 53 University Place, Princeton, NJ 08540.
