Renaissance and Reformation; Historiography
Anthony Grafton works on the history of humanistic scholarship and science in Renaissance Europe. His recent books include (with Megan Williams) Christianity and the Transformation of the Book (Harvard University Press, 2006): What Was History? The Art of History in Early Modern Europe (Cambridge University Press, 2007); Codex in Crisis (The Crumpled Press, 2007); and Worlds Made by Words (Harvard University Press, 2008). He has three collaborative books in press: a reference work on the Classical tradition, which he has edited with Glenn Most and Salvatore Settis, and which will be published by Harvard University Press; a visual history of the timeline, which he wrote with Daniel Rosenberg, and which will be published by Princeton Architectural Press; and a study of the Hebrew scholarship of the French late humanist Isaac Casaubon, which he wrote with Joanna Weinberg, and which will be published by Harvard. Further work in progress includes a study of Renaissance magic and a study of Renaissance correctors of the press, based on the Panizzi Lectures which he gave at the British Library in December 2008.
