Gerhard R. Andlinger Professor in Energy and the Environment. Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Applied and Computational Mathematics. Director, Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment.
Research Area Carter's research "focuses entirely on enabling the discovery and design of molecules and materials for sustainable energy, including converting sunlight to electricity and fuels, providing clean electricity from solid oxide fuel cells, clean and efficient combustion of biofuels, and optimizing lightweight metal alloys for fuel-efficient vehicles and fusion reactor walls."
Research Area Tromp and his research group are currently addressing imaging problems in exploration geophysics, regional and global seismology, and helioseismology. Members work on various theoretical, computational and observational aspects of forward and inverse problems in seismology.
