Welcome to the Rocky Class of 2018!
Welcome, new Rockyites! We're delighted that you'll be joining our community here in the fall, and we look forward to welcoming you to your new home on campus at Orientation, and getting to know you over the next four years. Your college will be one center of your intellectual and social life outside the classroom, where you will make some of your closest friends at Princeton. Take a look around this website, which will introduce you to many of the people you'll meet at the college this year, and will also give you a sense of life at Rocky.
The Rocky College Staff will support you in all areas of your growth throughout your college career: Dean Avens and Dr. Levine (your Director of Studies) are the people responsible for your academic advising. We work closely with the faculty advisers with whom you will meet to choose your courses, and we also act as liaisons with the Office of the Dean of the College and the thirty-five individual academic departments at Princeton. Please regard us as a source of information and advice for all four years that you are at Princeton! We're happy to help you identify solutions to academic difficulties or to disentangle bureaucratic problems, and we're here to offer assistance with academic or personal questions, or simply to act as a sounding board when you are thinking through your plans and options.
While academics will clearly be your primary focus, we also want you to thrive both personally and socially. Amy Ham Johnson, our Director of Student Life, works with the Residential College Advisers (RCAs for short) to make sure your life outside of the classroom is well-balanced, culturally enriching and, simply put, an all around positive experience. The RCAs will provide assistance with your initial adjustment to life at Princeton, and will serve as an excellent resource as you transition into a demanding academic environment. Above all, we are dedicated to making the residential experience a full and rewarding one for every Rocky student.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email or telephone the Rockefeller College Office at 609-258-3728. We'll be happy to help in any way we can. We hope that you will find a moment during the hectic events of Orientation to introduce yourself to us. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to welcoming you on September 6th at the special opening freshman dinner!
