Greetings to the Rocky Class of 2017!
We are delighted to welcome you, and to congratulate you on your membership in Princeton’s Class of 2017! You are about to begin an exhilarating four years of intellectual and social challenges and growth, and we are pleased to be here to assist you in getting off to a good start.
The staff of the college will work with you for the next four years. As the Dean and the Director of Studies of Rockefeller College, we are the people responsible for your academic advising. We work closely with the faculty advisers with whom you will meet to choose your courses, and we also act as liaisons with the Office of the Dean of the College and the thirty-five individual academic departments at Princeton. Please regard us as a source of information and advice for all four years that you are at Princeton. We encourage you to seek us out in order to find solutions to academic difficulties or to disentangle bureaucratic problems. We are here to offer assistance with academic or personal questions, or simply to act as a sounding board when you are thinking through your plans and options.
While academics will clearly be your primary focus, we also want you to thrive both personally and socially. Amy Ham, our Director of Student Life, works with the Residential College Advisers (RCAs for short) to make sure your life outside of the classroom is well-balanced, culturally enriching and, simply put, an all around positive experience. The RCAs will provide assistance with your initial adjustment to life at Princeton, and will serve as an excellent resource as you transition into a demanding academic environment. Above all, we are dedicated to making the residential experience a full and rewarding one for every Rocky student.
Take a look around this website, which will introduce you to many of the people you'll meet at the college this year, and will also give you a sense of life at Rocky. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email or telephone the Rockefeller College Office at 609-258-3728. We will be happy to help in any way we can. We hope that you will find a moment during the hectic events of Orientation to introduce yourself to us. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to welcoming you on September 7th at the special opening freshman dinner.
