Rocky Dale Prize, Summer 2011
Rocky congratulates Eric Silberman '13 and Charlotte Weisberg '13, our winners of the Martin A. Dale '53 Summer Award for 2011. The Dale Award supports projects undertaken during the summer between sophomore and junior years, and is meant to encourage students to have a transformative experience pursuing the summer of their dreams. Eric travelled to Poland to follow the paths of his Holocaust survivor grandparents, finding the lost world of their homes and the traces of their pre-war lives. Charlotte trained as a childbirth educator, and reached out to women in low-income Philadelphia communities, helping to develop a pool of online information for them to share. The Martin A. Dale '53 Summer Awards are annual, so current freshmen and sophomores should begin thinking about the summer of their dreams! There will be an information session in December, so watch for details.
