Yelena Baraz

Yelena Baraz is a member of the Department of Classics where she teaches Latin language and literature at all levels. Her first book, on Cicero's philosophical works as a cultural project, is forthcoming from Princeton University Press in the Spring of 2012. She has published articles on Vergil, Pliny the Younger, Latin lexicography and Roman kingship. She spent a year in Munich writing articles for a Latin thesaurus project that has been going on for over a hundred years. Now she is working on a new book about Roman ideas of pride. She enjoys reading new fiction when she can find the time and loves opera, but these days she spends most of her free time with her two-year-old twins, Julia and Katherine.
