Major: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Certificate: Applied Computing
Study abroad experience: Princeton-Oxford Exchange in Engineering (Junior Year)
List of favorite courses: In the engineering department, I've loved CEE 262: Structures and the Urban Environment, COS 226: Algorithms. Outside of engineering, my favorite class would have to be ART 212: Neoclassism through Impressionism. CEE 262 can be taken either with a precept (for BSEs) or a lab (for ABs) and you will never look at large structures (bridge, skyscrapers, etc.) the same way again. COS 226 is a great continuation of COS 126 (which you should absolutely take if you have any interest in programming) and it covers a lot of practical algorithms. Finally, ART 212 is taught by Prof. Alsdorf and her ability to talk about art in her lectures is unbelieveable and engaging.
Hey guys! I'm Adrian De Smul and I'm a senior from Wilmette, IL (just north of Chicago). I'm majoring in Mech. Engineering, with a minor in Computer Science. I'm interested in looking at the intersection of technology, engineering and business when I graduate. At Princeton, I'm a member of the university orchestra where I play the trombone. I'm also a photographer for the Daily Princetonian.
I can't wait to get back to Princeton after a year abroad at the University of Oxford. Even though I had an amazing time traveling in Europe, I'm excited to set foot on campus after almost 15 months away! If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Best way to reach me: Shoot me an email at afde@ and I'd be happy to talk!
