Anne Caswell Klein

I've been Director of Studies at Rockefeller College since 2007. I work most closely with freshmen and sophomores: I’ll advise you about your classes, major, and academic support, and I’ll be glad to talk with you about other issues as well. Before becoming Director of Studies, I was a Rocky Fellow and Academic Adviser, and I taught for five years as a member of the Writing Program faculty, where I led seminars like “Modern Memory” and “Literature Between the Wars.” My PhD is from Princeton in Comparative Literature; my scholarly interests include Russian and British novels and the relationship between literature and ethical/philosophical ideas. I grew up in Ohio and went to college at the University of Chicago. You’ll often see my family around Rocky: my husband, Grady, has published a series of graphic novels, and is an avid player of Ultimate Frisbee and soccer: he’ll be glad to tell you about the local pick-up games. I also enjoy movies, cooking and eating with friends, and going in to New York and Philly. I’m looking forward to working with all of you.
