Holder Center 4B
The Holder Center at Rockefeller College, located in 4B Holder Hall, is a space for students to use to create and to display multi-media digital arts projects. It contains a media room devoted to graphic design with two customized iMacs with Adobe CS5, a large-format printer and scanner, and one devoted to video-editing, with dual screen workstations and Final Cut Pro software. There is also a small gallery area to display works and objects,as well as a seminar room where workshops take place throughout the year.
Holder 4B is a space where students can come together to learn from other students about how to use cutting edge technology in graphic design, video editing, and music production projects. Thus, the Holder Center also contains the offices of these student groups: the Student Design Agency, the Video Production Agency, and Princeton Student Entertainment Network (PSEN). The students in these organizations sponsor workshops to help others gain technical skills in graphic arts and video editing. PSEN also organizes a student film festival so that filmmakers can present their work as well as stream it online.
Video Workshop Series in Holder Center -- Fall 2012
Let's make a movie! Learn how to produce professional-level video programs for yourself or your group. This series of workshops will teach you the basic skills, from lighting and audio set-up to final editing and special effects using Final Cut Pro. No experience necessary; open to students at all residential colleges.
The workshops are led by Seth Mellman, an award-winning producer and director, who worked in network TV production in Los Angeles, before establishing SMP Video in 1999.
Workshops are held in 4B Holder Center in Rocky College (entry 4B of Holder Hall is located on the pathway between Holder and Campbell Halls).
Announcement of workshop topics, dates, and times will take place in September 2012.
