About the Roxen 5.1 Upgrade

Depta and Deptb Roxen Instances

Review Period - Begin reviewing your website(s)

Websites on the depta and deptb instances will work with Web Development Services to have their websites upgraded.

To help ensure a smooth transition to Roxen 5.1, websites have been copied to a test environment and WDS has emailed those people we have listed as contacts for each website. You are responsible for testing your website(s). If you were not contacted yet, please email us to let us know.

Steps for testing your website:

  1. Use the appropriate web address(es) to access your website in the test environment. (Use either deptaedit-qa.princeton.edu or deptbedit-qa.princeton.edu depending on which server your website is located.)
  2. Go to the Roxen 5.1 Website Review site and click "Respond to this Survey" to open an online checklist.
  3. Complete the review of your website by responding to the questions in the checklist. Please complete one survey per website, if you have more than one.
  4. Report any issues you discover in the "Comments" sections of the survey. A WDS staff member will contact you to advise you on how to proceed. If you need WDS to fix customizations that you have made to your website, charges may apply.

Review tips:

  1. A green "Roxen 5.1" icon displays in the upper-right corner of the preview website. This icon indicates that you are viewing your "test website" and not your live website.
  2. Links in your website that are defined as full paths will take you out of the testing environment. Look for the green "Roxen 5.1" icon.
  3. If you find a problem with your website in the test environment, please also check your live website to verify that the problem does not also exist there.
  4. Please note that your site content was captured and copied to the test environment. Content is updated nightly, if possible. When testing is complete and websites are moved to the live Roxen 5.1 environment, your site content will be the most current.

Please complete your website review and notify Roxen support of any issues by Tuesday, December 13, 2011. We anticipate that all Roxen websites on "depta" and "deptb" will be moved to the new Roxen 5.1 environment in January 2012.

All Other Roxen Instances

All websites which are not on depta or deptb will work directly with the Collaborative Services Group to have their websites upgraded. You will be contacted by them to plan your upgrade.
