Michael Becher
Michael is a PhD student in the Department of Politics and the Joint Degree Program in Politics and Social Policy. His research interests include comparative politics and political economy, with special emphasis on the consequences of political institutions for accountability and economic policies. His dissertation examines how democratic constitutions affect partisan conflict over redistribution. Other work in progress studies unions and redistribution (with Jonas Pontusson), economic voting (with Michael Donnelly), the effect of the type of government on budget deficits, and the role of asymmetric information in government formation in parliamentary democracies.
