Why buy my computer through SCI?
The Student Computer Initiative (SCI) provides Princeton students with aggressively priced, highly capable computers to facilitate academic work. The program is open to all Princeton students. The University encourages students to consider purchasing one of the SCI computer offerings.
OIT assistance and support
The OIT Help Desk, Student Technology Consultants (STC), OIT Solutions Center, and OIT Hardware Support staff are available to help with your SCI hardware and software needs. OIT Hardware Support is also an authorized warranty service provider for all SCI computer models.
All models include a 3-year warranty. Dell models include Complete Care - a plan that covers repair costs due to accidental damage.
Pre-installed and pre-configured software
SCI computers come with University recommended software pre-installed. The laptops are also pre-configured to be as secure as possible to minimize viruses, using automatic software update and Anti-Virus software. A list of the SCI software is available on this site.
Network-ready with wireless technology
SCI computers are pre-registered for access to the Princeton network and network resources. SCI computers also include built-in wireless for accessing the network in OIT wireless zones, including your dorm room! For more information about Dormnet, Princeton's residential network, go to www.princeton.edu/dormnet.
Attractive pricing with several payment options
Computer prices are negotiated specifically for Princeton University students and can be paid for with a credit card, a student account, a loan through the Financial Aid Office, or with a Princeton Computer Installment Loan. Additional payment information is available on this site.
