Journal of Science & Global Security

Science and Global Security is an international journal for peer-reviewed technical studies to support international security, arms control, disarmament, and nonproliferation policy. Now in its third decade, the journal covers nuclear, biological, chemical and space technologies and programs and related security issues. Its goals are to help create a common understanding of the technical basis for new policy initiatives to reduce the risks of the military use of these technologies and to provide an archival source for further works of scholarship and policy analysis.
Articles have included studies on detecting nuclear warheads and warhead elimination, the limits of ballistic missile defenses and space-based early warning, the runaway arms race in South Asia, the proliferation risks associated with the uranium enrichment gas centrifuge and with plutonium separation and use, the conversion to LEU of HEU-fueled reactors, the detection of concealed radioactive sources and fissile materials, verification of biological and toxic weapons disarmament, the destruction of chemical weapons, anti-satellite warfare and space debris, and a host of other topics.

Articles in the journal are written so that the results can be checked and reproduced by technical analysts while the essential issue and conclusions are accessible to a policy audience. Beyond providing a basis for policy, the journal publishes review articles and tutorial material suitable for university courses. Based at the Program on Science and Global Security, the journal is published in English and Russian editions.
