MATLAB Network License Installation for OS X Computers

Notes:

R2014a is not compatible for Mac OS X 10.0 Yosemite. 

A wired connection is preferable.  This installation can only be completed while connected to the Princeton University network.  If you are not on campus and would like to install MATLAB go here

 

Connect to network share:

  • Copy smb://files.princeton.edu/licensed/Products/Matlab/R2014a/Unix_MacOSX/
  • In Finder, from the Go menu select Connect to Server and paste into Server Address field then click connect
  • Log on as Registered User with your Princeton Netid and password
  • Double click Princeton_README.txt and copy the appropriate File Installation Key. (faculty/staff or student)
  1. Start Installation by double clicking InstallForMacOSX
  2. Enter password of account with administrative privileges when prompted
  3. In the MathWorks Installer window, select Use a File Installation Key and click Next
  4. Select Yes to accept the license agreement and click Next
  5. Select I have the File Installation Key for my license
  6. Paste the File Installation Key into the text field and click Next
  7. Click Next to accept the default installation folder
  8. Click Next to accept the default products to install
  9. Copy /Volumes/licensed/Products/Matlab/R2014a/Unix_MacOSX/license.lic and paste into license file location text field and click Next
  10. Click Yes if prompted to create a destination folder and enter password of account with administrative privileges
  11. Click Install
  12. Click Next if the Product Configuration Notes screen is displayed
  13. Click Finish to complete installation
 

MATLAB and all Princeton licensed toolboxes are now installed on your computer. It will only run while connected to the Princeton University network or with a VPN connection. See following link to activate a local license if you need to work offline (no network connection).
