MATLAB Network License Installation for Windows

Notes:

A wired connection is preferable.  This installation can only be completed while connected to the Princeton University network.  If you are not on campus and would like to install MATLAB go here

 

Connect to network share:

Windows 8

  • Copy \\files.princeton.edu\licensed\Products\Matlab\R2014a\MSWindows
  • On your keyboard hold down the Windows+X keys, click Run, paste in path and click OK
  • When prompted to Enter network password authenticate as yourself with “Princeton\” in front of your netid. ie “Princeton\netid” and enter your password. Click OK
  • Double click Princeton_README.txt and copy the appropriate File Installation Key (faculty/staff or student)

Windows 7 & Vista

  • Copy \\files.princeton.edu\licensed\Products\Matlab\R2014a\MSWindows
  • Click the Start button, right click on Computer and select Map network drive
  • Paste path into Folder text field, check Connect using different credentals and click Finish
  • When prompted to Enter Network Password authenticate as yourself with “Princeton\” in front of your netid. ie “Princeton\netid” and enter your password. Click OK
  • Double click Princeton_README.txt and copy the appropriate File Installation Key (faculty/staff or student)
  1. Start Installation by double clicking Setup.exe
  2. When prompted to Enter Network Password authenticate as yourself with “Princeton\” in front of your netid. ie “Princeton\netid” and enter your password. Click OK
  3. If prompted for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable click OK
  4. In the MathWorks Installer window, select Use a File Installation Key, click Next
  5. Select Yes to accept the license agreement and click Next
  6. Select I have the File Installation Key for my license
  7. Paste the File Installation Key into the text field and click Next
  8. Click Next to accept the default location
  9. Click Next to accept the default products to install
  10. Copy \\files.princeton.edu\licensed\Products\Matlab\R2014a\MSWindows and paste into license file location text field, click Browse
  11. Select license.lic, click Select then click Next
  12. Click Next to accept default Installation Options
  13. Click Install
  14. Click Next if the Product Configuration Notes screen is displayed
  15. Click Finish to complete installation
 

MATLAB and all Princeton licensed toolboxes are now installed on your computer. It will only run while connected to the Princeton University network or with a VPN connection. See following link to activate a local license if you need to work offline (no network connection).
