Ashley Evelyn

Ashley Evelyn is a senior concentrator in Spanish and Portuguese who is also earning certificates in the Program for Latin American Studies and the Center for African American Studies. She has studied abroad in Salvador da Bahia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she attended PUC-Rio and interned at the Institute for Racial and Environmental Advocacy. Her research interests include race relations in the United States and Brazil, race politics in Cuba, and Black Nationalism in the U.S. and the Caribbean. She is also interested in criminal "injustice" in black and latino communities and the fight against mass incarceration in the U.S. Outside of academics, she enjoys seeking and praising God with the Princeton University Gospel Ensemble and tutoring prisoners through the Petey Greene Prisoner Assistance Program. Her hometown is Stone Mountain, GA.
