Enric Mallorquí-Ruscalleda
Enric Mallorquí-Ruscalleda is an ABD in Spanish & Portuguese Literatures &
Cultures at Princeton U. (MA in 2007, Teaching Transcript in 2008), where he is completing a dissertation titled Quijotes a lo divino: un capítulo de historia cultural de la España de los Austrias. He holds a MA in Transatlantic Studies/Spanish from the U. of Western Ontario. Enric has also studied at the U. de Deusto (Postgraduate studies in Hermeneutics), the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas/U. Autónoma de Madrid/U. Nacional de Educación a Distancia (DESE and PhD Candidate in Classical Philology, emphasis in Medieval and and Renaissance Latin, and Textual Criticism), and U. Autónoma de Barcelona (Lic. in Hispanic Philology). His areas of specialization are the literature and culture of Medieval Iberia, the Spanish Golden Age (Renaissance & Baroque), Colonial Latin American literatures and cultures, Medieval & Humanistic Latin, cultural studies/cultural history, transatlantic studies (16th-17th Centuries), hermeneutics, literary theory, philology and literary history, textual criticism, comparative literature, Catalan studies, manuscript and print studies, book history, and history of reading. Since 1999 he has published over forty articles in peer review journals (Hispanófila, Romance Quarterly, Crítica hispánica, Antípodas:Journal of Hispanic and Galician Studies,eHumanista: Journal of Iberian Studies, Revue d’Études Catalanes, etc.) including essays, book reviews, encyclopedia entries, a book (Poéticas del laconismo, forthcoming 2009), and several critical editions of texts as well as acting as the guest editor of Diego de Saavedra Fajardo y las Corrientes espirituales e intelectuales del humanismo (special issue of Crítica hispánica, forthcoming 2010). He has received numerous prizes, fellowships, and research grants, including the William Ebenstein Research Fund (Princeton), the Stanley J. Seeger Fellowship (Princeton), Regents Intern Fellowship (UC-Berkeley), the Edward C. Armstrong Prize (Princeton), the AGAUR for visiting scholars (Government of Catalonia), the Provost’s Humanities Predoctoral Fellowship (U. of Pittsburg), and the Thomas Edwin Devaney Fellowship (U. Colorado-Boulder); he was also nominated as the graduate scholar/graduate student fellow in the Center for Humanities and the Arts (U. Colorado-Boulder). He has taught Spanish Language and Literature (100, 200, and 300 hundred level courses, at Princeton U., The U. of Western Ontario, and U. of Prince Edward Island), Colonial Latin America Literature & Culture (400 level course, at the U. de Girona), and Medieval Latin (National Archive of Catalonia). He has participated in over 30 national and international congresses (presenting, organizing, or moderating) and has given some talks in different universities and cultural institutions. He has participated in several research projects, either as a main investigator or as a member of a research team; all such projects were funded by a government or a university. Enric has attended numerous courses and workshops of professional training. He is a member of different academic and professional societies. He is also a member of the editorial board and referee of Studia Aurea (U. Autónoma de Barcelona/U. de Girona), Crisolenguas (U. Puerto Rico-Río Piedras), and U. of Pennsylvania Working Papers in Romance Languages and Literatures.
