Enea Zaramella is a Ph.D. candidate who joined the department of Spanish and Portuguese in 2008. He is currently working on his dissertation tentatively entitled “Textualidades tímbricas. Mário de Andrade, Felisberto Hernández, Alejo Carpentier.” His research interests focus on some of the multifaceted relationships between literature and sound (or music, in a broader sense) which he begun in the U. of Trieste, Italy, with a thesis entitled “Cuando la palabra se hace música y la música se hace palabra: El perseguidor y Rayuela de Julio Cortázar” (2007).

Other research interests include musical semiology and cultural musicology, literary and musical forms, Latin American intellectual history, Brazilian Modernism, literary theory, and 20^th century Latin American and Caribbean literatures.
