Laura joined the Spanish and Portuguese Department in 2008, after having received her Laurea in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Trieste in 2005, and her Laurea Specialistica from the same university in 2007. Her research interests include 19th and 20th Latin American literature, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality and literary modernism. Some of her current projects deal with migration literature in Italy and Latin America, as well as Sephardic literary production in the Balkans.  She spends her spare time translating Latin American texts to Italian, and enjoying long conversations with her dog.
