Profile
Rachel Price (B.A., Yale; Ph.D., Duke U.), works on Latin American, circum-Atlantic and particularly Cuban literature and culture; media and literature; and empire. She is currently completing a book entitled “The Object of the Atlantic: Concretude 1868-1968,” about the emergence of post-romantic aesthetics in Brazil, Cuba, and Spain in the wake of changes in empire and capitalism in the late nineteenth century. She is working on a new project on contemporary Cuban aesthetics entitled Planet/Cuba, and on a project on affect and slavery in nineteenth-century Caribbean literature.
Professor Price is a member of the 2012-2015 PIIRS Research Community on Empire.
