Serge Gruzinski, first class Research Director at the National Scientific Research Center (CNRS, Paris) and Director of Studies at EHESS, is one of the most distinguished historians of Hispanic-American cultures.   Gruzinski was recently awarded the History Prize by the International Committee for Historical Studies in recognition of his significant contributions.

He will teach POR 301/LAS 303: Modern Brazilian Literature and Culture and SPA 550: Seminar in Colonial Spanish American Literature: Writing History in the New World - Spanish and Indian Chroniclers.
