Conferences

Each year, Institutions for Fragile States sponsors three or four expert conferences, including a panel to review the work of the policy workshops.  In 2007-8, the program launched its oral history program. To help train its own personnel, Institutions for Fragile States will offer a workshop on interviewing and ethnographic research as well as a substantive introduction to the questions at the focus of the first year’s work. Ph.D. candidates in all disciplines and interested MPA students are welcome to participate. The program sponsored an exploratory conference to introduce and discuss some of the analytic challenges that underlie the subject matter. This conference assembled a small group of distinguished political scientists, economists, sociologists, and historians to speak about the connections between their work and the questions the program entertains. December. In addition to these meetings, the program will co-sponsor several other small conferences that engage practitioners and academics. To learn more about the schedule, place yourself on our distribution list by contacting states@princeton.edu
