Telephone Instructions

Every dormitory room has an active jack for emergency and local calls. You will need to purchase your own phone to utilize this basic service. If you want your Tiger Voice number installed in your dormitory room to have a complete local and long distance calling telephone, please make a request using this  Tiger Voice Request form providing your dorm location and new Tiger Voice number.  

Below are dialing instructions on how to place calls from your dorm.

Type of Call Dialing Instructions
On-Campus (student to student) Dial 3 + 4 digit telephone extension (check University directory for correct ext.)
On-Campus (Administrative) Dial 8 + 4 digit telephone extension
Local Calls Dial 9 + 7 digit telephone number
Calling Card Calls Dial 9 + 1 + 800 number on your calling card
Long Distance (within 609 area code) Dial 9 + 1 + area code + phone number
International (direct dial) Dial 9 + 011 + country code + city code + number
International (operator assisted) using calling card, or collect calls Dial 9 + 01 + country code + city code + number

Princeton University Main Number 609-258-3000 (to find other students)
Direct Incoming Dialing 609-673-XXXX (last 4 of your extension number)

Help:

In an emergency Dial 911 from your dorm phone and 609-258-3333 from your cellular phone.
