Successful elections are critical to democracy. In divided societies or countries emerging from war, however, competitive processes like elections can trigger violence. In this section of the site, users will find the experiences of several countries that have tried to reduce those risks. Topics include voter registration, boundary delimitation/districting, poll location, election security, recruitment and training of electoral workers, electoral dispute resolution, peace councils, and vote counting.
