Chazen Professor of International Business Director Center for Research On Environmental Decisions Director Center for the Decision Sciences Columbia University "The Psychology of Green Action and Behavior Change Abstract We make a large number of environmentally-relevant decisions, from transportation to eating choices, or about the adoption of technology that provides greater energy efficiency. In many instances we fail to select options that are either dominating alternatives or in our personal or social long-term interest. I will analyze psychological reasons for such failures that stem from human cognitive and motivational limitations, but also suggest ways in which we can harness these limitations as well as several sources of cognitive abundance to facilitate more sustainable decisions and less regret. | Lessons In Sustainability Leadership: Panel Discussion Please join us for a panel discussion entitled Lessons in Sustainability Leadership" on December 5th at 7:30 pm in McCormick 106. (See attached). Panelists Emily Lloyd, Andrew Winston, Andrew Mims and David Crane will share their insight and experience on leadership and the growing field of sustainability. Emily Lloyd is the administrator of Prospect Park, a 585-acre urban oasis in Brooklyn, and the president of Prospect Park Alliance. Andrew Winston, founder of Winston Eco-Strategies, is the author ofGreen Recovery and co-author of Green to Gold, the international best-selling guide to what works - and what doesn't - when companies go green. Andy Mims is the founder of Goosewing Partners, a strategy consulting and private equity investment firm located in Nashville, TN. David Crane is the president and CEO of NRG Energy, a Fortune 500 company and one of the nations largest power generation and retail electricity businesses.
