Abstract
We make a large number of environmentally-relevant decisions, from transportation to eating choices, or about the adoption of technology that provides greater energy efficiency. In many instances we fail to select options that are either dominating alternatives or in our personal or social long-term interest. I will analyze psychological reasons for such failures that stem from human cognitive and motivational limitations, but also suggest ways in which we can harness these limitations as well as several sources of cognitive abundance to facilitate more sustainable decisions and less regret.
