Civic Engagement Initiatives

Slow Food Princeton Speaker Series - Funding provided partial support for the spring 2009 speaker series. Josh Viertel, President of Slow Food USA and former Co-Director of the Yale Sustainable Food Project, was featured. Student contact: Joseph Vellone ‘10

UBikes Campus Bike Rental Program - Funding will support continued refurbishment and reuse of abandoned bicycles, as well as the startup of a new fleet intended to prevent the accumulation of abandoned bikes over the long term. This pilot program is in partnership with Forbes College where new bicycles will be offered to incoming Frosh as a rental option. Bicycles will also be available to staff and faculty. An equipment maintenance service for all community members is also in place through the student volunteer-run Bike Co-Op. Contact: Jeff Domanski, Office of Sustainability

Sustainability Ambassador Program Internship - Through the Office of Sustainability, this intern will partner with campus programs to begin developing the PU Sustainability Ambassador program. Ambassadors are departmental or program-level appointed representatives for sustainability and are envisioned to be the points of contact for information relevant to their programs. Training support will be provided by the Office of Sustainability. Contact: Shana Weber, Office of Sustainability.
